OUR STORY

As a new mother looking to find a way to balance work and family life, Fran Martinelli started Franmar in 1973. She bought a passenger van, drove it herself, (with toddler in tow), on her only school route.

One year later, Fran owned 4 school buses, employed 4 drivers, had 6 school routes, and contracts with two government entities.

Today, Franmar is South Florida's largest and leading provider of school transportation. We have a fleet of 55 air conditioned buses that transport over 3,000 students a day. We own and operate a 50,000 sq ft maintenance facility where our buses are inspected daily. We also have four in-house technicians who make all repairs on site, and ensure that our fleet exceeds requirements on both the State and Federal levels.

We have come a long way since driving one school bus to and from West Lab Elementary. Our commitment to safety and reliability continues to drive the very core of our business, and the reason for our success.

OUR TEAM

All Franmar drivers have a minimum of five years licensed driving experience upon hiring, as well as a Commercial Drivers License with a Passenger and School Bus endorsement. We require 40 hours of pre-service training, and an additional 8 hours of annual in-service training. In addition, they obtain special certifications to drive for the public school system and the county.

Criminal background checks are conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, as well as the FBI on all potential drivers. We also perform pre-employment and random alcohol screenings, annual medical examinations to ensure fitness to drive, and annual dexterity testing to determine ability to perform required duties.

We complete weekly reviews of our drivers' driving records to ensure there are no disqualifying violations, and adhere to all required local school district safe driver plans.
